What is the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking? Why is there an asymmetry between matter and antimatter? These questions motivate precision tests of the Standard Model.
Research has focused on heavy quarks, especially beauty quarks, as probes of the Standard Model. Recent work concentrated on Higgs boson decays to beauty quarks within CMS.
A second direction is precision muon decay measurements and participation in the Mu3e scintillating fibre detector project at PSI.
